THE HIGHEST net addition of internet subscribers among Nigeria’s major mobile network operators was recorded by Globacom in May 2026, reinforcing the company’s growing momentum in the country’s telecommunications market.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the telecommunications company said the performance followed sustained investment in network modernisation and infrastructure expansion as it reaffirmed its commitment to superior data services, network efficiency and high-quality digital connectivity.
Data released by the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) also showed that Nigeria’s internet subscriber base increased from approximately 154.3 million in April to about 157 million in May, representing a net addition of 2.67 million subscribers during the month.
Globacom accounted for nearly half of the national increase, growing its internet subscriber base from approximately 15.5 million in April to 16.8 million in May. The company added about 1.3 million subscribers during the period.
Airtel Nigeria recorded the second highest growth with approximately 1.07 million additional subscribers, while MTN Nigeria added 382,894 subscribers.
Globacom’s performance was highlighted at its 23rd anniversary celebration in Lagos, where the company launched four products alongside a corporate advocacy campaign, “Never Settle for Less”. The campaign urges Nigerians to pursue satisfaction and fulfilment.
The four products, Welcome Bonus, Talkmasta Reloaded, Magic Data Bundles and the revamped Glo Café 3.0 self service app, were introduced to expand the range of products available to subscribers and provide greater value.
Explaining the feat, JKNewsMedia.com reports that the company also reloaded its Glo Talkmasta “6 for 6” offer, increasing the free data benefit attached to calls. Subscribers who use six minutes for calls now receive six free call minutes and 100MB of free data, compared with the previous 50MB allocation.
Globacom also enhanced its Welcome Bonus, giving new customers who purchase and activate a Glo SIM benefits worth N2,100.
The package includes 20 minutes of calls to all networks, 2GB of free data and a one month GloTV Premium subscription.
The company introduced Magic Data Bundles, which provide customers with a guaranteed data allocation alongside an automatic Magic Bonus Data allocation.
The bonus varies according to a predefined allocation matrix.
“The Magic Bonus Data transforms data subscription into a rewarding experience because customers know they will always receive the guaranteed data purchased while also anticipating an additional Magic Bonus,” Ogwuda said.
The Magic Data Bundles are available at N1,600 and N3,500, with customers receiving between 500MB and 12GB in Magic Bonus Data depending on the bundle purchased. Customers can buy the bundles through the Glo Café app or by dialling *312#.
Globacom also unveiled Glo Café 3.0, the revamped version of its self service app. The new application features a youthful and customer friendly interface, additional security features and new payment options.
The company said a key feature of the revamped app is Gloria, an AI powered voice and text assistant designed to help customers with queries and find offers. Gloria is available in English, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, French and Spanish.
