DURING the 16th Convocation for the 2022/2023 academic session at Delta State University, Abraka, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced automatic employment for the institution’s top graduating student, Ilebe Joshua, who achieved a remarkable 4.83 GPA in the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Encouraging the graduation class, the governor emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship alongside traditional employment, urging students to utilize their academic knowledge and life experiences for creating value in the society.

Addressing the converge, Governor Oborevwori commended the institution’s Governing Council and management for the consistent growth and development of the university, reiterating his administration’s commitment to ensuring the timely delivery of academic programmes across the state’s tertiary institutions.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andy Egwunyenga, had highlighted the significant achievements of the university, including the graduation of 4,776 students in various programmes.

The university also attained 100% accreditation for all its programmes and received recognition in national rankings.

Also, during the ceremony, Professor Chukwuemeke Peter Aloamaka was honoured as a Professor Emeritus for his academic and administrative contributions, while a former Minister of Information, Professor Sam Oyovbaire, received an Honorary Doctorate.

Expressing gratitude, valedictorian Ilebe Joshua credited this success to divine grace and thanked his parents and the university’s management for initiatives like the Students’ Work and Scholarship Schemes, supporting students in need to pursue their academic goals.
