DISPLAYING commitment to advancing healthcare in Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has pledged staunch partnership with the Federal Government. His declaration came during the formal inauguration of the College of Nursing Sciences, Onicha-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area, (Satellite Campus) of the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba.

Oborevwori didn’t stop at words; he backed up his pledge with tangible support.

A generous donation of a 32-seater coastal bus to the college underscored his dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure.

In his address, he lauded the efforts of former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, for his role in bringing the project to fruition. Recognizing the pivotal role of education in healthcare, Oborevwori emphasized the significance of the new college in bolstering human capital development in the health sector.

“With the establishment of this College of Nursing Sciences, Onicha-Uku (Satellite Campus), of the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, through our illustrious son, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, we aim to address the pressing need for enhanced healthcare services in our communities,” stated Oborevwori.

The governor also extended gratitude to the Hon. Minister of Health, as well as the management and staff of Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, for their collaborative efforts.

He highlighted the economic benefits the institution would bring to Onicha-Uku and surrounding areas, urging the community to take ownership of this vital asset and prioritize its security.

Oborevwori reiterated his administration’s unwavering support for Federal Government institutions within the state, emphasizing a collective approach towards sustainable development.

Meanwhile, Hon Ndudi Elumelu, the immediate Past Minority Leader, House of Representatives, reiterated his commitment to the region’s development.

Addressing students directly, he urged them to seize the opportunity for education as a means to address the healthcare sector’s manpower shortages.

Dr. Victor Osiatuma, the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, expressed gratitude to Hon. Elumelu for his efforts in bringing the college to fruition. He called upon the state government and relevant stakeholders to address critical needs such as water supply, electricity, transportation, and security for the institution.

In agreement, Chief Ephraim Osubor, representing Onicha-Uku town, hailed the project as a significant boon for the health sector, underscoring its importance in fostering community well-being.
