Synopsis:
Election security has emerged as a major concern in the first month of stakeholder activity tracking conducted since August 19, 2026, with analysts identifying a growing divide in confidence in security agencies ahead of the elections. While electoral bodies, political parties and candidates expressed confidence in the agencies’ ability to perform their duties impartially, some government institutions, civil society and non-governmental organisation members, as well as campaign organisations, reportedly showed less confidence in their performance. The findings underscore the need for critical dialogue and meaningful engagement among stakeholders to strengthen electoral security and ensure adequate protection before, during and after the elections.
Report:
AFTER DELIBERATING on the first month of aggregating and dissecting stakeholders’ activities since August 19, 2026, our initial tracking once again highlights the importance of adequate security before, during and after the elections.
From the actors’ perspective, our tracking indicates that electoral bodies, political parties and candidates remain critical stakeholders who express confidence that security agencies will perform their roles creditably well without any form of bias.
However, the indication that some government institutions, CSO and NGO members, as well as candidates’ campaign organisations, lack adequate confidence in the security agencies reveals a clear divide between two groups of actors. According to our analysts, this requires serious dissection.
Our analysts urge stakeholders to engage in critical dialogue and meaningful engagement capable of ensuring an adequate security system ahead of the elections.
