IN THE wake of recent explosions in the Eleme axis of East-West Road in Rivers State and the Ita-Oshin, Abeokuta North local government area of Ogun State, President Bola Tinubu has lauded the swift responses of both state governments to the affected communities.

Tragedy struck on April 26 and 27th respectively in both states, resulting in loss of lives, and injuries.

In Rivers State, a tanker conveying Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) had lost control and ended with an explosion that resulted in the tragedy, while in Ogun State, a gas carrying tanker had exploded, and also resulted in one fatality and six injuries.

In a statement issued by Tinubu spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, on April 30, it was also revealed that the explosion inflicted significant damage on properties.

Expressing his sympathy for the affected communities, President Tinubu extended condolences to the governments and residents of Rivers and Ogun States.

While emphasizing his solidarity with the victims and pledging his support for those in Ogun State, the President directed federal agencies in Rivers State to provide comprehensive assistance to the affected individuals.

He also advocated for the implementation of stricter safety regulations in the transportation of petroleum and gas products across the states to prevent future tragedies.
