Facebook, X Record Highest Harm Levels In AI Content Tracking

IN OUR previous tracking, we found individuals and organisations as the creators of artificial intelligence content. We also reported that these creators are using different social media platforms, especially Facebook and X.

In this latest tracking, we examined the levels of harm across platforms. Our analysis shows that Facebook and X account for the highest levels of harm identified across the platforms.

However, we did not find a high level of harm to the public, especially voters.

Our analysts attribute this to the significant creation of glowfake and Fanfake, rather than foefake and darkfake.

Despite this outcome, our analysts suggest that the two dominant platforms still need to help stakeholders reduce the creation and spread of AI-generated content, especially content capable of destabilising electoral processes and undermining peaceful and credible elections in 2027.

Synopsis

Previous tracking identified individuals and organisations creating AI content across social media platforms, particularly Facebook and X. The latest analysis found the highest levels of harm on the two platforms, although overall harm to the public, especially voters, remained low.
