FCT Police Arraign 11 Suspects Over Killing Of Arise News Journalist

ELEVEN SUSPECTS linked to the killing of the late ARISE News anchor, reporter and producer, Ms. Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, and a security guard, Mr Barnabas Danlami, have been arraigned by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command before the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in the Jabi area of Abuja.

JKNewsMedia.com reports the command as saying that the suspects were brought before the court following a robbery incident at Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension, Mabushi, Abuja, where Maduagwu and Danlami were killed on 29th September 2025.

The development was also disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO/FCT), Federal Capital Territory, Mrs. Josephine Adeh, a Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the command arraigned eleven suspects before the FCT High Court in Jabi.

Also, the suspects listed in the statement include Shamsu Hassan, Sani Sirajo, Hassan Isah, Abubakar Alkamu, Abdulsalam Saleh, Suleiman Badamasi and Zaharadeen Mohammed.

Others named are Musa Umar, also known as Small, Mashkur Jamil, Suleiman Sani and Abubakar Usman.

The statement also said the suspects were arraigned on a 9-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and murder.

It added that the matter was adjourned to February 2026 for further proceedings.
