THE FEDERAL Government has announced plans to close the Independence Bridge (Marina-bound) in Lagos from April 1 for essential maintenance and rehabilitation works.

Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, confirmed that the bridge closure will last until the end of May 2025.

The affected route includes traffic from Ahmadu Bello Way and Adeola Odeku towards Marina, Eko Bridge, and Onikan by Zone 2.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and use alternative routes to ease congestion during the repair period.

Kesha apologised for any inconvenience this may cause and urged public cooperation as the government works to enhance road safety and infrastructure stability.
