THE FEDERAL Government has declared Friday 18 and Monday 21 April 2025 as public holidays for Good Friday and Easter Monday celebrations, urging Nigerians to embrace love, sacrifice, and unity during the Easter season.
The announcement came through a statement from the Ministry of Interior, where the Minister, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended warm greetings to Christians and the nation at large.
He called on Nigerians to reflect deeply on the values symbolised by Easter—the selfless love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the redemption of humanity.
Speaking through the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the minister highlighted the significance of the holiday as a moment not just for celebration, but for solemn reflection on the need for national healing and collective progress.
“Use this season to pray for the peace, unity, and stability of our country,” the minister urged, reiterating President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda—a national vision aimed at development, inclusiveness, and sustained growth.
The minister also appealed to citizens to extend kindness and generosity to one another throughout the Easter period. He noted that small acts of goodwill towards neighbours help to reinforce the country’s shared values of compassion and coexistence.
Tunji-Ojo concluded his message by wishing Christians across Nigeria a blissful Easter and extending warm holiday greetings to all citizens.
