CREATING INCLUSIVE opportunities for children with special needs and addressing the challenges faced by their caregivers remains a pressing issue in society.

Fidelity Bank Plc says it has taken the bold step in addressing this gap through its groundbreaking “Bundles of Joy” programme, which launched recently in Lekki, Lagos.

Hosted over the weekend, the bank says that the programme’s first session was designed to provide children with special needs access to fun, educative activities while equipping their parents and caregivers with the knowledge and resources to improve their care.

Speaking, Fidelity Bank’s Divisional Head of Brand and Communications, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, welcomed participants, reiterating the initiative as part of the bank’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) drive.

“Bundles of Joy reflects the vision of our Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe,” Nwagboh explained. “It fosters an inclusive society by supporting children with special needs and providing their caregivers with tailored workshops to enhance their skills.”

During the session, children participated in mobility and social skill-enhancing activities, while parents attended workshops led by expert facilitators.

These sessions were particularly designed to address the emotional and psychological challenges families often face with their unique set of children, the bank notes.

Some of the grateful parents shared their experiences.

Joy Daberechi noted, “This programme has taught me valuable lessons for caring for my daughter. I appreciate the effort Fidelity Bank has put into making this happen.”

Another participant, Deborah Eromokhodion, highlighted the value of building a support network with other parents, calling it “an invaluable and heartwarming experience.”

Eventually, the day ended on a cheerful note with Fidelity Bank presenting goodie bags to the children and special gifts to their parents, leaving attendees with smiles and a sense of empowerment.

The bank also urges other interested families to register for the “Bundles of Joy” programme through its official website via www.fidelitybank.ng/bundlesofjoy/.

Moreover, the initiative promises tailored outings and sessions for special needs children, starting in January 2025, to further buttress the bank’s dedication to inclusivity and community growth, according to statement issued and shared with the media.
