FEDERAL UNIVERSITY of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has reaffirmed its commitment to building a digitally driven, globally competitive, research-oriented and student-centred institution where students can enjoy learning experiences comparable to global standards.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, stated this at the second matriculation ceremony of the Directorate of Sandwich and Affiliate Programme (DSAP), held at the Itaji Campus Centre of the university, where 121 students were formally admitted into the university’s academic community.
Represented at the ceremony by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Bolanle Tajudeen Opoola, Ogunwole said the university’s vision was anchored on transforming partnership and service excellence while continuously improving the quality of teaching, learning and other academic experiences available to students.
He said the administration’s agenda included the continuous digitalisation of academic and administrative processes, strengthening graduate employability, promoting innovation and creating an environment where excellence could thrive.
The Vice-Chancellor urged the newly matriculated students to embrace technology as an essential component of their academic journey.
Ogunwole encouraged the students to make effective use of the university’s digital resources, participate actively in lectures, complete their assignments diligently and engage meaningfully with their lecturers.
He reminded them that the true value of a university education went beyond the acquisition of certificates to the knowledge, competence and character developed during their studies.
JKNewsMedia.com also reports that the VC further charged the students to maintain high standards of discipline and integrity, stressing that the university would not tolerate examination malpractice, cultism, harassment, bullying, drug abuse or any other form of misconduct.
He urged them to make integrity a defining part of their identity and contribute positively to the peaceful academic culture of the institution.
Ogunwole further called on the students to respect their lecturers, support one another and uphold the values of accountability, discipline and mutual respect, noting that these remained indispensable pillars of institutional excellence.
