HUNDREDS OF Lagos residents who benefited from Glo Foundation’s latest food relief fair on Saturday expressed profound gratitude to the company, describing it as a lifeline in their time of need.

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Globacom, Glo Foundation, extended its benevolence to the Ikota area of Lagos, following a similar outreach in Bariga the previous week.

At both events, thousands of beneficiaries, mostly women, received essential food items, leaving with renewed hope and appreciation for the telecommunications giant’s initiative.

In collaboration with the Lagos Food Bank, the Foundation distributed food supplies at the New Generation Baptist School, Ikota, where eager beneficiaries had gathered as early as 7.00am.

They later received cartons containing rice, garri, spaghetti, noodles, tomato paste, toothbrushes, sardines, salt, vegetable oil, bread, and seasoning cubes from Globacom officials.

The atmosphere was one of jubilation, as recipients sang and danced to express their gratitude. Some offered heartfelt prayers for continued blessings on Globacom, acknowledging the impact of its goodwill.

Christina Itoro, a POS operator from Akwa Ibom, could barely contain her excitement. “When I opened the carton and saw the content, I was so excited. May God bless the company and its staff,” she enthused.

Similarly, Sarah Oliseh, a housewife, shared her appreciation. “I am very happy and so excited getting this from Globacom. It will definitely go a long way to help me and my family.”

For Godwin Mary, a Kunu drink seller from Benue State, the relief package was timely. She revealed that her business was on the verge of collapse before receiving the aid. “Globacom has truly remembered us and given us hope again,” she said.

Speaking at the event, Globacom’s Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Mrs. Jumobi Mofe-Damijo, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to uplifting the less privileged.

“Giving brings joy and smiles to the faces of beneficiaries, as we have seen today. It also makes us happy that we are able to touch lives in a highly interdependent world.”

She further disclosed that Glo Foundation is actively working on other initiatives to support vulnerable communities across the country, underscoring its dedication to social impact.
