SPOTLIGHT TURNS to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie this week as CNN African Voices Changemakers prepares a feature on the acclaimed Nigerian author in its 30-minute magazine programme sponsored by telecommunications company Globacom.
The broadcast captures an engaging conversation between Adichie and the show’s anchor, Larry Madowo, at Nsukka, where she spent her formative years in the staff quarters of the University of Nigeria (UNN).
The setting also carries historic resonance, being the same residential quarters once occupied by renowned literary figure Chinua Achebe.
CNN described Adichie as one of Africa’s most prolific contemporary writers whose works have reached global audiences with stories grounded in resilience, tradition, and identity.
The feature aims to present her journey as both inspiring and reflective of Africa’s evolving literary landscape.

According to details released by CNN, the package is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, 20 September 2025, at 11:00am.
Rebroadcasts will follow on Sunday, 21 September, at 3:30am and 6:00pm; Monday, 22 September, at 3:00am and 5:45pm; as well as Saturday, 27 September, at 7:30am and 11:00am.
Further airings will take place on Sunday, 28 September, at 3:30am and 6:00pm; and Monday, 29 September, at 3:00am and 5:45pm.
The network highlighted Adichie’s literary contributions, beginning with her debut novel Purple Hibiscus, which interrogates stereotypes, re-examines identity, and celebrates African traditions.
Her subsequent works, Half of a Yellow Sun and Americanah, reinforced her position as a leading voice in African literature. Her forthcoming title, Dream Count, was also noted as an exploration of themes tied to culture, heritage, and authenticity.
CNN underscored that her writing has consistently elevated conversations around feminism, heritage, and social values while strengthening recognition of African originality in world literature.
Globacom, which sponsors the programme, reaffirmed that its ongoing support for African Voices Changemakers aligns with its commitment to highlight African excellence.
The company emphasised that the collaboration continues to showcase the continent’s creativity, talent, and originality through stories that resonate across generations.
