FANS OF Netflix’s The Polygamist will see South African actors Gugu Gumede and S’Dumo Mtshali on this week’s edition of Globacom sponsored African Voices, CNN’s 30-minute magazine programme.
Hosted by Larry Madowo in Johannesburg, the episode brings the on-screen couple together for a conversation about their careers, life in the film industry and the experiences that have shaped them, JKNewsMedia.com reports.
They also discuss navigating fame, avoiding typecasting and their advocacy for stronger protection and better opportunities for actors.
Glo notes that the Polygamist follows the story of a husband whose infidelity turns his family’s seemingly perfect life upside down, drawing them into the unexpected and often complicated world of polygamy.
Gugu Gumede, who plays Joyce Gomora, trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles.
The 34-year-old actress is also recognised for her roles as Mandisa in Generations and Mamlambo, the prophetess, in Uzalo.
S’Dumo Mtshali, who plays Jonasi Gomora, first gained national attention after winning SABC1’s reality competition Class Act in 2010.
He has since appeared in productions including Intersexions, Inside Story, Avenged, iNumber Number: Jozi Gold, Back of the Moon and The 4 of Us.
The special double feature episode airs on Saturday at 8.00am on DSTV channel 401 with repeats at 11.00am the same day, Sunday at 3.30am and 6.00pm, Monday at 3.00am and 5.45pm, and Tuesday at 5.45pm.
Further repeats air next Saturday at 7.30am and 11.00am, Sunday at 3.30am and 6.00pm, and Monday at 3.00am.
