POLITICAL PARTIES now have until midnight on Tuesday July 14, 2026, to submit the lists of their candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly (NASS) elections following an extension approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the commission said the previous deadline of Saturday July 11, 2026, contained in the Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election, had been extended.
In a statement signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chair of the Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), on July 12, 2026, notes that INEC said it approved the extension following an appeal by the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on behalf of political parties that were unable to upload the names and personal particulars of their candidates within the scheduled timeline.

The commission said the extension underscored its commitment to ensuring inclusivity in its practices while acting within the ambit of the law.
INEC also urged political parties to take advantage of the additional time and ensure that all necessary details are uploaded before the new deadline expires.
