FLOOD VICTIMS in Jigawa State have received a significant lifeline following a multimillion-naira donation of relief materials from the Committee of Banks in Nigeria.

Penultimate Thursday, a high-level delegation visited Dutse, the state capital, to deliver food items, mattresses, and other essentials to support recovery efforts after September’s devastating floods.

Leading the delegation, Dr Oliver Alawuba, Chairman of the Committee and Group Managing Director/CEO of UBA Plc, emphasised the gesture as a show of solidarity with the state government and affected communities. CEOs from Access Bank, Zenith Bank, and Fidelity Bank joined him in delivering the items.

Dr Alawuba highlighted the banking sector’s history of similar interventions, citing contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic and efforts to rebuild police stations after #EndSARS protests.

Receiving the delegation, Governor Malam Umar Namadi commended the banks for their empathy and promised judicious use of the materials.

The Governor described the donation as a reflection of the Nigeria’s banking sector’s commitment to humanitarian causes and sustainable development.
