FOUANI BROTHERS and two others who were abducted last Friday night have been confirmed successfully rescued by a team of the Nigerian Navy and the Lagos State Police Command which culminated late Monday night in Orugbo Iddo.

The three Lebanese brothers, Abbas Fouani, Youssef Fouani, and Amtal Fouani, were kidnapped around Falomo Bridge, Ikoyi, while traveling by boat from their factory in Apapa to Victoria Island on June 14.

The boat captain and his assistant were also abducted in the incident.

The police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, provided details of the rescue, stating, “Five of them, three Lebanese, the boat captain, and his assistant, were rescued late last night in Orugbo Iddo.

Our marine police, with the support of the Nigerian Navy, brought them to shore.” Hundeyin credited the joint efforts of the Lagos Marine Police and the Navy for the successful rescue operation.

Earlier on Monday, Hundeyin assured the public that the police were actively managing the situation and intensifying efforts to secure the safe release of the victims.

The prompt response and coordinated rescue efforts underscore the commitment of law enforcement agencies to ensuring the safety of residents and businesses in Lagos.

Fouani Nigeria Ltd, the family-owned company specializing in electronics, is the sole distributor of LG, Hisense, and Maxi products in Nigeria.

The abduction of the brothers raised immediate concerns, prompting swift action from the authorities.

After being brought to shore, the rescued individuals were safely returned to their residence in Banana Island in the early hours of Tuesday, noting that the incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Lagos and the proactive measures taken by the police and navy to address such threats.

Hundeyin said the successful rescue operation were made effective given the collaboration between the Lagos State Police Command and the Nigerian Navy in ensuring the safety and security of all residents.

Great news. Most importantly is the fact that they are all alive.
