FORMAL STEPS towards the 2027 presidential election advanced on Tuesday as the All Progressives Congress (APC) commenced the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms in Abuja.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that President Bola Tinubu obtained the party’s presidential nomination forms through a representative after the payment of N100 million as stipulated.
The President was represented by Hon. James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency and founder of the Tinubu Support Group.
The forms were presented to Faleke by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, following the completion of payment for both the nomination and expression of interest forms.
Also, the exercise took place at the Continental Hotel and the Ladi Kwali International Conference Centre, marking the formal start of the party’s internal electoral process ahead of its primaries scheduled for May 23.
Faleke collected the forms on behalf of the President in the presence of senior APC officials during the presentation conducted by a delegation of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) led by Deputy National Chairman North, Hon. Abubakar Dalori, alongside the National Organising Secretary.
Other party leaders present included Hon. Duro Meseko, Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Bawa Rijau, National Vice Chairman North Central, and Dr. Mary Aliele, National Women Leader.
JKNewsMedia.com recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for Saturday, January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2027.
The commission also indicated that party primaries, including the resolution of disputes arising from them, will be conducted between April 23, 2026, and May 30, 2026.
However, campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will commence on August 19, 2026, while campaigns for governorship and state assembly elections will begin on September 9, 2026.
INEC notes that the commencement of the exercise signals the party’s transition into pre-election activities following a brief postponement from the initial start date.
