UNITED STATES President Donald Trump has blamed his party’s losses in the midterm elections on his absence from the ballot, while saying he was “absolutely willing to accept” the election results.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that Trump made the remarks following projections by US media that Democrats had secured control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in Tuesday’s midterm elections.
The president also attributed the Republicans’ poor performance to his absence from the ballot, despite repeatedly telling voters before Election Day that he was on the ballot.
In particular, a Washington Post analysis found that Trump had declared himself on the ballot 63 times before Election Day.
He also acknowledged that the war in Iran played a role in the Republicans’ losses.
Consequently, Trump expressed readiness to work with Democrats following the election outcome but said he remained prepared to veto Democratic legislation whenever necessary.
