MOTORISTS NAVIGATING Victoria Island corridors face temporary diversions this week as Lagos State prepares to host the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Summit at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) House and Eko Hotel & Suites from Tuesday 27 to Thursday 29 May 2025.
To ensure smooth vehicular flow and heightened security, authorities have issued detailed alternative routes.
Drivers heading to Lagos Island or the Mainland from Eko Hotel Roundabout are advised to use Adetokunbo Ademola Road, connect through the Civic Centre, and merge onto Ozumba Mbadiwe Road.
From there, they are to proceed straight to Bonny Camp Roundabout before making a right turn to continue their journeys.
An alternative route provides access via the Falomo Ramp near the Law School, easing travel toward Lagos Island or the Mainland.
Those exiting Ajose Adeogun or Adetokunbo Ademola through Eko Hotel Roundabout should follow Sanusi Fafunwa Street, drive straight onto Akin Adesola Road, and turn left at the junction to reach Ahmadu Bello Way or Adeola Odeku.
Also, a right turn at the same junction leads to Falomo Bridge or reconnects with the Law School route.
For motorists heading from Lagos Continental Hotel toward Bonny Camp, the designated path is through Kofo Abayomi Road, linking up at Kilimanjaro Junction on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road.
From there, a left turn reaches Bonny Camp Roundabout, while a right turn leads toward Lekki.
Drivers approaching Kofo Abayomi Road from Bonny Camp must pass along Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, then turn right at Kilimanjaro Junction to reach destinations via Lagos Continental Hotel.
Those commuting from Independence or McEwen Bridge toward the Eko Hotel Axis should turn left at the IMB building junction on Ahmadu Bello Way by Atlantic City.
This leads to Akin Adesola Road, offering access to inner streets and easing pressure on the main corridors.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said its officials will be deployed across the affected areas to manage flow and reduce disruption throughout the summit period.
