TO RESHAPE Ogun State’s manufacturing sector, a $50 million commitment is set as Mamuda Group Nigeria Limited channels the funding through its subsidiary, Mamuda Beverages.

The development follows a high-level meeting between the company’s leadership and Governor Dapo Abiodun at his Oke-Mosan office in Abeokuta, where plans for a phased industrial rollout were disclosed.

Chairman Hassan Hammoud revealed that the foundation stone for the beverage plant would be laid by the Governor next month, launching a broader agenda that includes additional ventures in food, care, and agro-processing.

The company, headquartered in Kano, plans to replicate its expansive footprint in the South-West with projections of a 13,000-strong workforce in Ogun within five to six years.

Mamuda’s operations span multiple sectors through subsidiaries such as Mamuda Industries (leather exports), Mamuda Agro (agricultural sacks), Mamuda Foods (confectionery), Mamuda Beverages (carbonated drinks), and Mamuda Care (detergents and beauty products).

The group currently employs 13,000 staff in Kano and expects to begin with 1,500 hires in Ogun, scaling up to 3,000 upon completion of the beverage facility’s expansion.

Mr Hammoud praised the investment climate fostered by the Ogun State government, describing it as one of the most business-friendly in Nigeria.

He noted that Ogun’s strategic location between Lagos and Ibadan makes it a prime base for companies seeking to dominate the South-West market.

“If you don’t come here, you’re missing out. The market is huge, and the logistics make this location very competitive for us,” he said.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed the state’s commitment to sustaining an enabling environment for investors.

He highlighted recent infrastructure gains, including the launch of a new airport within an industrial zone and the state’s progress in securing a dry port licence.

“You don’t have to go to Lagos anymore to clear imported raw materials. Our rail-linked dry port will cut costs and delays, boosting industrial efficiency,” the Governor stated.

He added that Ogun’s Business Environment Council has continued to strengthen investor confidence, positioning the state as a frontrunner in ease of doing business across Nigeria.

With six licensed industrial zones in the country, Ogun’s is the only one operational, a fact Governor Abiodun attributed to deliberate policy reforms and consistent stakeholder engagement.
