N7 Billion Allocated For President Tinubu’s Travel In 2026 Budget

THE 2026 federal budget proposes N7.01 billion for President Bola Tinubu’s travel, including N6.14 billion for international trips and N873.88 million for domestic journeys.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima’s travel expenses are set at N1.73 billion, with N1.31 billion earmarked for overseas engagements and N417.48 million for local travel, the appropriation bill shows.

These figures are reportedly slightly lower than the N8 billion planned for both offices in 2024, when Tinubu and Shettima had prepared for domestic and international trips.

In the same year, the president reduced the number of officials accompanying him on journeys by 60 percent.

Also, the travel allocations are part of the broader N58.18 trillion budget that Tinubu presented to the National Assembly on December 19, 2025, following approval by the federal executive council.

Each bill separates local and international travel for the president and vice-president. International trips account for the majority of funds, while domestic travel receives smaller amounts.

However, foreign travel for Tinubu represents nearly 88 percent of his total allocation, while Shettima’s overseas trips total almost three times the amount provided for his local travel.
