TO BOOST media influence and communication strategies at the newly launched Progressive Institute, Olawale Abideen has been appointed head of Media and Strategic Communications Department.

The institute is affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Abideen’s extensive background in investigative journalism and media management positions him to lead this initiative effectively.

His role is crucial in shaping the think tank’s media outreach and public relations efforts.

Abideen, known for his investigative journalism and media expertise, takes on this role with a robust background in both national and international media.

His career began at the Herald Newspapers and spans several prominent roles, including political correspondent and head of the investigative desk at The Week Magazine.

Holding a degree in Linguistics from the University of Ilorin and a postgraduate diploma in Journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) in Ogba, Lagos, Abideen’s credentials are further reinforced by his ongoing master’s degree in mass communications.

His professional journey includes advanced training in investigative reporting and strategic communications.

As a founding member of the African Center for Investigative Journalism (ACIJ) and the Nigerian Association of Online Journalists (NAOJ), Abideen’s contributions to media and journalism are well-recognized.

His previous role as media strategist at the Institute for Governance and Leadership Studies in Africa (IGLSA) equipped him with the skills necessary to spearhead the Progressive Institute’s media initiatives.

Abideen’s appointment affirms the institute’s commitment to leveraging expert communication strategies to support the APC’s policy goals and public engagement efforts.
