PRESIDENT BOLA Tinubu has strengthened Nigeria’s strategic partnership with China during a recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The discussions, which took place in Beijing, centered around mutual interests in advancing digital technology, infrastructure, and economic growth in Nigeria.

During a tour of Huawei’s Beijing Research Centre, President Tinubu and his delegation explored the latest innovations in digital governance, smart education, and renewable energy.

Huawei’s initiatives aim to enhance public services and drive Nigeria’s inclusive development agenda.

The company also revealed plans to establish a joint photovoltaic (PV) test lab with Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency (REA), signaling a commitment to expanding renewable energy solutions across the country.

In a separate engagement, President Tinubu met with the Chairman of the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), Mr. Dai Hegen, who highlighted CRCC’s long-term involvement in Nigeria.

The company has contributed to over 300 projects, including key railway lines that have transported millions of passengers and goods.

Tinubu assured that the ongoing railway projects would be completed to benefit both Nigeria and West Africa.

Huawei’s leadership also discussed their DigiTruck initiative, which aims to support digital literacy in underserved Nigerian communities.

The company pledged to collaborate with Nigeria’s Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy to train three million technical talents, ensuring the country’s youth are equipped with skills for future economic opportunities.

The discussions further emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for foreign investments in solid minerals and other sectors.

President Tinubu assured Chinese investors that Nigeria is open for business and ready to collaborate on projects that would benefit both nations.
