NIGERIA HAS committed to strengthening economic and security ties with the United Kingdom to foster mutual growth and stability.

President Bola Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s dedication to a renewed strategic partnership aimed at improving trade, cultural exchange, and citizen welfare during his recent meeting with UK Foreign Secretary, David Lammy.

President Tinubu urged Britain to deepen its involvement in African issues, particularly humanitarian crises in West Africa and Sudan.

He stressed the need for increased UK engagement, highlighting ongoing security challenges faced by the region and the influx of displaced people from conflict zones like Mali and Burkina Faso.

The Foreign Secretary commended Nigeria’s economic reforms, saying they would boost investor confidence and long-term stability.

Lammy highlighted the UK’s commitment to growth, security, and enhancing people-to-people connections.

Nigerian Foreign Minister Amb. Yusuf Tuggar added that the agreements will address critical areas such as migration, job creation, and home affairs.

Lammy also extended gratitude to King Charles III for his role in fostering relations, underscoring the UK’s historical ties with Nigeria and other Commonwealth nations.
