The Nigerian federation Tuesday woke up to the news of her new senior Men’s football Captain, 29-year-old Wilfred Ndidi who lost his father a retired Military Officer, Ndidi Sunday to a tragic auto accident the Tuesday morning.
Reports say the old military man who hails from Umunede kingdom , Ika in Delta State was rushed to a hospital in Agbor but was a reported case of BID which in medical terminology means brought in dead. We have not heard from the Police or Road Saftety Corps details of the incident.
Wilfred Ndidi who crossed last year from Leicester FC to Beskistas of Turkey had a message dispatched from his club which reads; We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer, Wilfred Nididi ‘s esteemed father Sunday Ndidi in a fatal road accident.
May Allah grant mercy to the deceased. We extend our condolences to our footballer, Wilfred Ndidi, his family and loved ones”.
Officer Sunday Ndidi had stood by his son when he got married to his spouse Dinma Fortune in Abuja in May 2019 and when Wilfred graduated at the De Montfort University in Leicester with a B.Sc degree in Business and Management. He gave birth to Wilfred while they lived in Lagos Nigeria several years ago hence the fluency of Wilfred to speak Yoruba language.
Efforts to reach the Director Of Communication of The Nigerian Football Federation, Dr. Ademola Olajiire proved abortive as his number was off but another contact from the Glass House Secretariat of NFF in Abuja who wept throughout said Dr. Olajiire and top NFF officials had gone to Agbor to meet with the Ndidi family.
The Family has not spoken on the situation and efforts to get Wilfred Ndidi also proved abortive as a source told us a private jet has been arranged for him to be in Nigeria Tuesday for Wednesday morning.
Report from Umunude says the people of the kingdom have been thrown into mourning with markets ordered closed while the Sunday Ndidi quarters is not accessible as mourners throng the place.
