SUSTAINING ITS operations and responsible business practices in the country, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Nigeria has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the country’s economic growth and development.
JKNewsMedia.com reeports that the company, in a statement, said its 18 years of business operations in Nigeria reflected its confidence in the country, its people and the potential to create sustainable value for stakeholders.
JTI Nigeria General Manager, Abdallah Simba, restated the position while reflecting on Nigeria’s development journey and the significance of its 66th Independence Anniversary.
Simba said Nigeria remained an important market for JTI and that the company’s continued operations demonstrated its confidence in the country’s long-term economic prospects.
He also said JTI’s business philosophy placed strong emphasis on responsible corporate conduct, regulatory compliance, employee development and constructive engagement with stakeholders.
“Our commitment to Nigeria goes beyond our business operations. As Nigeria celebrate the important milestone of its 66th independence, we recognise the importance of building a responsible and sustainable enterprise that contributes positively to the country’s development while creating long-term value for our employees, partners and stakeholders,” Simba said.
He said JTI Nigeria’s operating philosophy was anchored on high standards of corporate governance, ethical business practices and respect for the regulatory environment.
Simba also highlighted the company’s commitment to an inclusive workplace where employees are empowered through professional development, diversity, equal opportunity and a culture of mutual respect.
He maintained that responsible corporate citizenship remained essential to building enduring businesses, particularly in highly regulated industries where compliance, transparency and accountability were fundamental to sustainable operations.
As Nigeria continues to navigate an evolving economic environment, Simba expressed confidence in the country’s resilience and its capacity to create opportunities for sustainable business growth.
He reaffirmed JTI Nigeria’s determination to maintain its responsible corporate presence, strengthen stakeholder relationships and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s long-term economic aspirations.
He noted that JTI Nigeria is part of Japan Tobacco International, a global tobacco and vaping company headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and that the company operates in more than 130 countries worldwide.
