APPOINTMENTS OF two senior executives, Mr Andy Odeh and Mrs Morenike Adewunmi, into pivotal leadership positions have been announced by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

According to the company, Mr. Odeh will serve as Chief Corporate Communications Officer (CCCO), while Mrs Adewunmi takes on the role of Chief Relations Officer (CRO).

The company stated that Mr Odeh brings to the position more than 30 years of professional experience in communications and business administration, spanning the oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting industries.

His career included a 26-year tenure at Nigeria LNG (NLNG), where he held leadership positions across Community Relations and Development, Business Logistics and Services, Information Management and Technology, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Government Relations and Regulatory Compliance.

His most recent role at NLNG was General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development.

NNPC also noted that Mr Odeh was instrumental in leading several high-profile public relations and advertising campaigns for prominent brands.

During his service at NLNG, he managed the company’s rebranding exercise and oversaw the implementation of one of Nigeria’s most effective micro-credit schemes for host communities.

He also played a leading role in establishing the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting.

His academic background includes studies at the University of Jos, the University of Lagos (UNILAG), INSEAD Business School, and the Nigeria Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

On Mrs. Adewunmi’s appointment, NNPC highlighted her more than 25 years of legal and corporate relations experience in the oil and gas sector, gained largely from her career at Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN).

The company described her expertise as spanning stakeholder management, advocacy, and regulatory compliance, with a strong track record in protecting organisational operating licences.

Her roles at Shell included serving as Regulatory Affairs Manager, where she coordinated regulatory engagements and secured required permits, and as Government Relations Manager, where she worked closely with the Presidency, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to maintain effective relationships.

She is recognised for her leadership qualities, emotional intelligence, and ability to strengthen stakeholder networks. NNPC added that she is a subject matter expert on non-technical risks and has a legal background from the Nigerian Law School and Olabisi Onabanjo University.

The company affirmed that the appointments of Mr Odeh and Mrs Adewunmi reflect its commitment to strengthening communications and stakeholder engagement as part of its broader strategy to enhance organisational effectiveness.
