THE AJAOKUTA-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline has successfully crossed the River Niger, marking a major milestone towards its projected completion by the fourth quarter of 2025.

Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, disclosed the breakthrough while delivering a keynote address at the 24th NOG Energy Week.

He attributed the progress to strategic contract reengineering and sustained collaboration across the energy industry.

Ojulari also announced that Nigeria recorded full crude oil pipeline availability throughout June 2025—a development not seen in recent years.

He credited the achievement to extensive security interventions coordinated by NNPC Ltd, which have contributed to a steady increase in crude oil output.

The NNPC boss emphasised the urgent need for increased investments to further drive production.

He noted that the company’s consistent fulfilment of cash-call obligations to Joint Venture operations has helped reverse prior negative trends in project funding.

He added that the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) has empowered NNPC Ltd with the legal and operational leverage to play a leading role in financing energy projects across the country.

Reflecting on the future of the NOG conference, Ojulari expressed hope that the gathering would evolve from a policy dialogue forum to a results-driven platform where performance milestones are celebrated and investment deals are successfully concluded.
