STRATEGIC COOPERATION is gaining momentum in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector as two industry giants commit to a united push for energy security and national prosperity.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals (DPRP) have expressed their commitment to deepening collaboration.
During a high-level visit to NNPC Towers in Abuja, the President/Chief Executive of Dangote Group, Mr Aliko Dangote, and his delegation met with the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mr Bashir Bayo Ojulari, and members of the senior management team.
The visit underscored a united front in strengthening the energy value chain and aligning strategic goals to benefit the Nigerian economy.
“There is no competition between us,” Dangote said, affirming a partnership-based approach. “We are not here to compete with NNPC Ltd. NNPC is part and parcel of our business and we are also part of NNPC. This is an era of cooperation between the two organisations.”

Dangote congratulated Ojulari and his executive team on their appointments, while recognising the significant responsibilities ahead. He expressed confidence in NNPC Ltd.’s leadership and its capacity to overcome industry challenges through innovation and collaboration.
Responding, Ojulari welcomed the Dangote delegation with a pledge to strengthen synergy across operations. He described the NNPC workforce as “dedicated, highly skilled and hardworking professionals” and reiterated the company’s commitment to delivering value through strategic partnerships.
Ojulari assured that the collaboration with Dangote Group would continue wherever it yields commercial advantage for the nation. “We are ready to build a legacy of national prosperity through innovation and shared purpose,” he said.
Both executives agreed to personally champion the evolving partnership, fostering a culture of mutual respect, commercial alignment, and healthy competition.
