NNPC Refutes Sale Of Refinery Scrap Materials, Warns Public Of Fraudulent Claims

MISLEADING INFORMATION circulating about the sale of refinery scrap materials has been declared false by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited, which says it has not authorised any such transactions.

JKNewsMedia.com reports that the company stated that claims suggesting it is selling scrap materials, equipment, or components from its refineries to individuals and private companies are untrue.

In a statement signed by Andy Ogbeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPC said it has not issued any request for bids, tenders, expressions of interest, or approvals for the sale of scrap materials, refinery components, or any items from the warehouses or inventories of its refineries.

The company rather disclosed that it has received reports of individuals falsely presenting themselves as representatives or agents of the company which also claim to facilitate the sale of what they describe as scrap metals or refinery equipment.

NNPC said affirmatively that such individuals are not authorised and are attempting to mislead members of the public.

It therefore advised the public, corporate organisations, and industry stakeholders to disregard any claims or solicitations relating to such sales. It urged caution when dealing with anyone making such representations.

The company reiterated that it is not conducting and has not authorised any sale of scrap metals, equipment, or refinery components from any of its facilities.

It added that any legitimate disposal of assets will be carried out through established and transparent processes.

And such processes, it said, will be publicly communicated through official channels and conducted in accordance with applicable regulations.

NNPC therefore encouraged members of the public who encounter individuals or entities making such claims to report the matter to appropriate law enforcement authorities.

It added that the company remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the responsible management of national energy assets.
