NIGERIAN NATIONAL Petroleum Corporation Retail Limited (NNC-RL) has launched a major initiative to promote Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cleaner fuel option in Nigeria.

Over 1,000 auto mechanics participated in a recent awareness program during the National Artisans and Technicians Conference in Lagos.

The event focused on educating mechanics about converting gasoline-powered vehicles to CNG, aiming to encourage sustainable energy practices.

Mechanics learned about the advantages of CNG conversion and were introduced to NRL’s Oleum lubricant range, which is designed for both gasoline and CNG vehicles.

This initiative highlights NRL’s commitment to Nigeria’s transition to sustainable energy while keeping artisans informed about advancements in the automotive sector.

Baba Shettima Kukawa, Executive Director of Retail Operations & Mobility at NRL, emphasized the importance of mechanics gaining the skills necessary for CNG conversion.

He stated that this trend is crucial for the future of Nigeria’s automotive industry.

The Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN) and the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) praised NRL’s efforts and urged the expansion of this initiative.

They emphasized the need for continued support to facilitate Nigeria’s shift toward cleaner energy.

To further assist the local automotive sector, NRL provided participating mechanics with coveralls, toolboxes, and generators to enhance their operations and promote sustainability.

NRL’s push for CNG aligns with NNPC Ltd’s strategic goals of minimizing the environmental impact of Nigeria’s energy consumption while making fuel more affordable.
