THE NIGERIAN National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) and its partners announced they have successfully ramped up crude oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day (mbpd) and gas production to 7.4 billion standard cubic feet per day (bscfd), marking a significant milestone in its operations.

During a press briefing on Thursday, the company highlighted that this achievement aligns with the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, lauded the Production War Room Team for their efforts in not only recovering production but also boosting output to levels acceptable to shareholders.

Kyari expressed pride in the team’s performance, emphasizing that their efforts have resulted in a steady increase from 1.43mbpd in June 2024 to 1.7mbpd by August, and now to 1.808mbpd as of November.

He expressed confidence that with continued collaboration, especially on security, the company aims to reach 2mbpd by the year-end.

Mr. Lawal Musa, the Chief War Room Coordinator, outlined how the success was driven by joint ventures, production-sharing contract partners, and cooperation with government and private security agencies, which ensured the protection of pipelines throughout the production process.

NNPC Ltd’s Board Chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure, congratulated the team and encouraged management to prepare a cashflow projection based on the new production figures.

He also set sights on further increasing production to 3mbpd in the near future.

Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), commended the team’s performance and pledged the Federal Government’s continued support to further enhance production.
