RISING URBANISATION and economic growth in Oyo State have brought challenges in traffic management, prompting the state government to seek digital solutions.

To address this, Oyo State has partnered with telecommunications giant Globacom to implement innovative traffic management strategies aimed at enhancing road safety and mobility.

During the launch of the partnership’s first phase, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by his Chief of Staff, Chief Ebenezer Ogunwuyi, highlighted the importance of modernising the state’s traffic system.

He said, “As our cities grow and our economy expands, we need innovative solutions to ensure road safety, efficient traffic flow, and seamless urban mobility.”

The collaboration involves the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) and Globacom, leveraging the latter’s expertise in digital technology.

OYRTMA Chairman, Major Adesagba Adekoya (Rtd), praised Globacom’s capabilities, stating, “Their contribution will be transformative, and we’re confident that together, we’ll achieve a more efficient and effective traffic management system.”

Globacom’s Enterprise Business Lead for the South-West Region, Adeniyi Odejobi, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing advanced digital solutions.

He noted, “Our partnership will produce a smarter, more efficient OYRTMA workforce, enabling them to connect seamlessly and achieve a seamless traffic management system in the state.”

As part of the initiative, the event introduced MoneyMaster PSB, a digital financial service provider, to OYRTMA staff.

Speaking on this, Mr. Inusa Bello from MoneyMaster outlined the company’s mission to promote financial inclusion.

He also detailed the launch of a 10% data bonus and a 100MB seeding bonus for new customers as the collaboration is expected to create a safer and more organised transportation environment in Oyo State, positioning it as a leader in the adoption of digital solutions for urban challenges.
