SWIFT SECURITY action has been ordered by President Bola Tinubu following the killing of villagers and the abduction of women and children in Kasuwan Daji Community in Niger State, with directives issued to track down those responsible and bring them before the law.
The President directed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services to pursue the perpetrators of the Kasuwan Daji attack and ensure their swift apprehension.
He also directed security agencies to rescue all abducted victims urgently.
The directives were issued on Sunday in reaction to the recent attack on villagers in Niger State by terrorists suspected to be fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara following the United States’ air strike on Christmas Eve.
President Tinubu strongly condemned the assault on the Kasuwan Daji Community and the abduction of women and children during the attack.
He also expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed, as well as to the government and people of Niger State, acknowledging the gravity of the losses suffered by the affected communities.
“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down. They, and all those who aid, abet, or enable them in any form, will be caught and brought to justice,” the President declared.
A statement was signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and dated January 4, 2026, noted that the President reaffirmed that security agencies have been mandated to intensify operations around vulnerable communities, particularly areas close to forests that have served as hideouts for criminal elements.
The President assured the people of Niger State that these measures form part of an urgent response aimed at restoring safety to communities affected by the attack.
He further urged Nigerians to remain united and resolute in the face of the tragedy, cautioning against divisive rhetoric capable of undermining national security and cohesion during what he described as a challenging period for the country.
“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary. We must reclaim the peace and security of these attacked communities,” President Tinubu said.
