PRESIDENT BOLA Tinubu has called for the establishment of direct flights and enhanced economic cooperation between Nigeria and Brazil.

On Thursday, during a meeting in Abuja, he received the newly appointed Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos Jose Areias, who presented his Letter of Credence.

President Tinubu emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, noting that Nigeria and Brazil share a long history of cultural and economic ties.

He reiterated his discussions with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in February during the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, stressing the need to prioritize these connections for mutual growth.

Tinubu also expressed eagerness to collaborate with Brazil on various initiatives, including investments in dairy farming and other agricultural sectors.

He assured Ambassador Areias that Nigeria remains committed to working closely with Brazil, particularly as the country takes on the presidency of the G20 in 2024.

Ambassador Areias conveyed President Lula’s anticipation of welcoming President Tinubu to the G20 Leaders’ Summit scheduled for November 18-19, 2024, in Rio de Janeiro.

He also highlighted Brazil’s invitation to Nigeria to join the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, a major initiative aimed at eliminating extreme poverty by 2030.

In a separate meeting, President Tinubu received the Letter of Credence from Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Vice-Admiral Seth Amoama (Rtd).

During the meeting, Tinubu commended Ghana’s active participation in ECOWAS and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to bolstering relations with its West African ally.

High Commissioner Amoama pledged Ghana’s steadfast support for Nigeria’s leadership within ECOWAS, particularly in the Authority of Heads of State and Government.

These meetings underline President Tinubu’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that align with Nigeria’s strategic interests.
