PRESIDENT BOLA Tinubu has hailed his visit to China as highly successful and productive.

During his trip, President Tinubu emphasized the need to enhance cooperation between Nigeria and China in areas such as infrastructure, trade, finance, energy, the green economy, and mining.

He assured Nigerians in China of his commitment to deliver effective governance.

He spoke on Friday at a meeting with the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization in China (NIDO China) and the local Nigerian community at the China World Hotel in Beijing.

This engagement was President Tinubu’s final official act before departing for London, with a stop in Dubai.

He also led Nigeria’s delegation at the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit.

“Nigeria is undergoing significant reforms, and we are making bold decisions,” President Tinubu said.

He highlighted the recent discussions about fuel prices, pointing out the need for tough choices to ensure long-term progress.

The President drew comparisons between China’s infrastructure and Nigeria’s current state, urging for similar advancements in Nigeria’s roads, electricity, water supply, and education.

He stressed that such improvements are crucial for leaving a legacy of progress for future generations.

Addressing the Nigerian diaspora, President Tinubu praised their contributions and the high level of Mandarin fluency among them.

He underlined that their experiences and insights are valuable for Nigeria’s development.

He urged them to support the nation’s journey towards better infrastructure and innovative education.

“We aspire for our children to attend well-equipped schools and not just makeshift classrooms,” he stated. “Our goal is to create an environment where businesses can thrive.

Leadership is my role, and I am dedicated to fulfilling it.”

The President acknowledged the challenges in achieving national consensus but affirmed his readiness to make difficult decisions for Nigeria’s advancement.

“We are committed and have a strong team,” he added.

Dr. Oche Barnabas, President of NIDO China, requested President Tinubu’s support in seeking official recognition of Nigeria as a native English-speaking nation by China.

This recognition would enhance job and educational opportunities for Nigerians residing in China.
