NEW HEAD of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF) will assume office on August 27, 2026, following President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that Enitan succeeds Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who will retire from the Federal Civil Service (FCS) when she turns 60.
The incoming HoCSF, who hails from Osun State, is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the FCS and currently serves as Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education.
He has spent seven years and seven months as a Permanent Secretary, serving at the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.
Tinubu said Enitan brings considerable institutional experience and a deep understanding of the workings of the Federal Civil Service to the new responsibility.
The President also expressed profound appreciation to Walson-Jack for her distinguished service to the nation and for the reforms, impact and innovations witnessed in the Civil Service during her tenure.
In a statement dated August 19, 2026, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Tinubu wished Walson-Jack a fulfilling and successful life after service and conveyed the nation’s gratitude for her years of dedicated and impactful public service.

Tinubu charged Enitan to consolidate the reforms and innovations already underway, deepen professionalism and efficiency across the service, and build a more effective and responsive Civil Service capable of delivering on the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The President further urged him to lead a Civil Service that is professional, merit-driven, accountable, innovative and responsive to Nigerians’ needs and aspirations.
Born on December 12, 1966, Enitan attended Ajibode Grammar School, Ibadan, and the College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife, for his secondary education.
He later attended the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where he graduated in 1988 with a B.Sc. in Finance and Banking. In 2015, he obtained an M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
