Tinubu Arrives in Beijing for China-Africa Summit, Investment Talks

PRESIDENT BOLA Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Beijing, China, for a five-day state visit aimed at strengthening economic ties and fostering investment opportunities between Nigeria and China.

He landed in China at approximately 9.00am. local time on Sunday and was warmly received by senior Chinese government officials.

Joining the President were the governors of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Kaduna State, Uba Sani, along with key members of his cabinet.

President Tinubu’s visit coincides with the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit, themed “Joining Hands to Advance Modernisation and Build High-Level China-Africa Community with Shared Future.”

Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, confirmed Tinubu’s arrival in a post on X.com, highlighting that the President will engage in high-level discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Additionally, President Tinubu will hold meetings with top Chinese business leaders on the sidelines of the summit.

The state visit, extended by President Xi Jinping, is expected to enhance economic collaboration between the two nations and attract substantial investments to Nigeria.

During his stay, Tinubu will visit prominent Chinese companies, including Huawei Technologies and the China Railway and Construction Corporation, to expedite the completion of the Ibadan-Abuja segment of the Lagos-Kano rail project.

President Tinubu is also scheduled to meet with CEOs of ten major Chinese corporations.

These companies manage over $3 trillion in assets across various sectors such as information and communication technology (ICT), oil and gas, aluminum production, seaport development, finance, and satellite technology.
