PRESIDENT BOLA Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to three distinguished Nigerians, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Mr. Fola Adeola, and Mr. Kola Adesina, on being awarded honourary doctorate degrees by the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

The accolades were conferred during UNILAG’s 55th convocation ceremony held on January 16.

In a series of congratulatory letters, President Tinubu commended the honorees for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields and their unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s development.

He described them as role models whose achievements inspire the nation’s youth and serve as benchmarks for excellence.

Addressing Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), President Tinubu praised her groundbreaking work in global trade and economic development.

He noted her pivotal role in advancing policies that benefit developing nations and underscored the global recognition of her efforts as a source of pride for Nigeria.

For Mr. Fola Adeola, a renowned entrepreneur and co-founder of Guaranty Trust Bank, the President lauded his innovative contributions to Nigeria’s financial sector.

He acknowledged Adeola’s leadership in fostering economic growth and empowering countless individuals and businesses through financial inclusion.

Mr. Kola Adesina, an industrialist and key player in Nigeria’s energy sector, received accolades for his significant strides in addressing the country’s power challenges.

President Tinubu emphasized that Adesina’s dedication to sustainable energy solutions reflects his commitment to national progress and global innovation.

“Your recognition by the University of Lagos is a testament to your impactful contributions and the enduring value you bring to our nation,” President Tinubu stated in his letters.

He also wished the honorees continued success in their endeavors, expressing hope that their achievements would inspire others to strive for excellence.

The UNILAG stated that the honourary doctorate degrees awarded to these trailblazers affirms the institution’s commitment to celebrating individuals who exemplify leadership, innovation, and service.

It also noted that their achievements resonate with the university’s mission to nurture talents that contribute meaningfully to society; adding that the 55th convocation ceremony also witnessed a celebration of academic excellence and societal impact, with the honorees’ contributions serving as a beacon of hope and aspiration for the younger generation.
