DEEP SORROW trailed the condemnation issued by President Bola Tinubu over the brutal killing of Arise News anchor, Somtochukwu “Sommie” Maduagwu, who was murdered during a robbery attack at her residence in Katampe, Abuja.

According to a statement released by the Presidency on Tuesday, President Tinubu described the late journalist as a “promising journalist whose life was cut short in a cruel and condemnable manner.”

He extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the management and staff of Arise News Television, and the broader media community, noting that her death represented a painful and shocking loss.

The President directed security and law enforcement agencies to carry out a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice without delay.

He emphasised that his administration remains fully committed to safeguarding the lives and property of all citizens.

President Tinubu reiterated that under the Renewed Hope Agenda, his government will continue to strengthen security measures nationwide to combat crime in all its forms and ensure that tragedies of such nature are not repeated.
