NIGERIA’s PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has extended congratulatory messages to the newly elected Prime Minister of United Kingdom (UK), Keir Starmer.

Starmer, the Labour Party leader had emerged winner in Tuesday’s general elections, toppling the Conservative Party’s incumbent, Rishi Sunak.

The immediate past PM has conceded defeat and tendered his resignation as he exited the official residence on Tuesday.

On Friday, President Tinubu also expressed his admiration for Stamer’s determination and courage on reforming, mobilising, and repositioning the party after 14 years, which he noted, has proved new PM’s leadership capability.

Recall that JKNewsMedia reported earlier that Starmer promised swift reforms to initiate “the work of change” as he emerged as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

While congratulating the citizens and government of UK, President Tinubu described the country as an abiding model of democracy and Nigeria’s long-standing partner.

President Tinubu also said he looks forward to building a long-lasting partnership with the UK in mutual areas of interest and strengthening democratic institutions, which will be beneficial to both nations.
