LANDMARK PROJECTS aimed at transforming Enugu State’s infrastructure were commissioned on Saturday during President Bola Tinubu’s state.

This marked his first official trip to the state since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

During the one-day visit, Tinubu inaugurated key projects under Governor Peter Mbah’s administration.

The President was welcomed at the airport by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Anambra Deputy Governor, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, Minister of Works Dave Umahi, and oil magnate Arthur Ezeh, among others.

A statement released on Friday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, confirmed that President Tinubu would commission the Enugu International Conference Centre, a project completed under Governor Mbah’s administration.

These included 30 fully completed Smart Green Schools equipped with modern facilities, part of a larger plan to build 260 such schools across the state’s wards.

He also unveiled 60 completed Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres out of 260 under construction, underscoring efforts to improve healthcare access.

Other highlights included the commissioning of the multi-functional Enugu International Conference Centre, 90 urban roads within Enugu City, and rural roads enhancing connectivity.

The President also launched a Command-and-Control Centre and handed over 150 patrol vehicles equipped with AI surveillance cameras to bolster security.

Top officials accompanied Tinubu, including Abia State Governor Alex Otti, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Works Minister Dave Umahi.

However, governors from Imo, Ebonyi, and Anambra were notably absent, leaving questions about representation.

Earlier in the day, President Tinubu arrived at Akanu Ibiam International Airport aboard the Nigeria Air Force Airbus A330, greeted by a delegation led by Governor Mbah.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, also confirmed the projects Tinubu would commission, stressing their significance in advancing education, security, and urban development.
