FRESH DEVASTATION struck Kano’s Singer Market over the weekend as a fire outbreak destroyed sections of the food market, prompting President Bola Tinubu to commiserate with traders and the people of Kano State.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the fire started on Saturday evening and raged into Sunday morning, causing significant damage to the market.
President Tinubu had earlier reached out to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to obtain a situation report on the incident which he described as tragic.

The President also expressed particular alarm that the latest incident occurred less than two weeks after another fire destroyed dozens of shops and property at the same market.
Promptly, President Tinubu directed a comprehensive investigation into the causes of the market fires, which often leave traders in despair according to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy on February 15, 2026.
