WEDNESDAY, 18 June 2025 has been set by President Bola Tinubu to visit Benue State in order to confront the escalating violence that has devastated communities and claimed lives across the region.

A statement by his media team said the move follows the rescheduling of his official trip to Kaduna State, now slated for Thursday, 19 June.

The visit will enable the President to assess the crisis directly and hold strategic discussions with key stakeholders.

Expected to be in attendance are traditional rulers, political figures, religious leaders, youth representatives, and community heads who all would join a town hall session aimed at building consensus for peace.

In advance of his visit, the President had deployed senior federal officials to the state.

The delegation includes the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, the National Security Adviser, intelligence chiefs, and the Chairmen of the Senate and House Defence Committees. Their assignment is to lay groundwork for constructive engagement.

President Tinubu has also repeatedly condemned the violence in Benue and urged a collective return to peace and mutual understanding.

He extended condolences to affected families and communities suffering from loss and displacement.

According to the itinerary released over the weekend, the President was initially scheduled to visit Kaduna on 18 June to inaugurate government projects; but that has been officially moved to Thursday, 19 June.

President Tinubu to visit Benue on Wednesday.
Better late than never. After all, the Pope he attended his inauguration recently spoke on Benue crisis yesterday.

You’re very correct about that sir. I don’t even see why they need to politicize this issue that ought to be treated with fast humanitarian response. I really feel for those innocent lives just wasted for no reasons.
