CLAIMS CIRCULATING on social media alleging that pupils, students, and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area have been released have been debunked by the Oyo State Government.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, described the video as false and misleading, urging members of the public to disregard it in its entirety.
“The viral video about the release of those abducted at Oriire in Oyo State is unfortunately untrue.
The state government continues its discreet interventions, which we are very hopeful will yield the desired result soon. We thank all for their patience,” Oyelade said.
He appealed to residents and social media users to avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic, confusion, and emotional distress to affected families.
Oyelade further assured that the government, in collaboration with security agencies and other stakeholders, remains committed to ensuring the safe return of the abducted pupils, students, and teachers.
He also appreciated residents for their patience and support as efforts continue to secure the release of the victims.
Meanwhile, for weeks, the abduction in Oriire LGA has continued to generate concern across the state, with federal and state authorities saying they are intensifying efforts to secure the freedom of those still in captivity.
