PRIDE AND perseverance filled the air on 23 July 2025 as students of the Pacelli School for the Visually and Partially Sighted celebrated their graduation, with Union Bank of Nigeria lending strong support to mark the occasion.

Hosted on the school grounds, the ceremony highlighted the value of inclusive education and the determination of students overcoming visual impairments to pursue academic excellence.

As one of Nigeria’s oldest financial institutions, Union Bank said it is reaffirming its commitment to promoting equitable access to education and empowering Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, Olufunmilola Aluko, lauded the graduates for their perseverance and achievements. “Union Bank proudly stands as a champion of inclusiveness and equitable representation.

Through our UnionCares corporate social responsibility initiative, we are committed to supporting vulnerable and underrepresented communities.

We celebrate the incredible achievements of these students and reaffirm our dedication to empowering them to reach their full potential.”

According to the bank, the UnionCares initiative focuses on three core pillars of sustainable impact:

▪️Support for Vulnerable Groups: Empowering PWDs and marginalised communities through inclusive action.

▪️Education and Skill Development: Advancing access to learning and self-reliance through training and resources.

▪️Community Well-Being: Enhancing quality of life through health, education, and welfare programmes.

The bank reiterated its dedication to working alongside institutions that uplift overlooked groups, reinforcing its vision of a more inclusive and compassionate society across Nigeria.
