His performances have attracted interest from Liverpool and Chelsea. Diomande will have an opportunity to showcase his abilities when Ivory Coast face Germany in Group E.
South Africa return to the World Cup finals for the first time since hosting the tournament in 2010. Captain Ronwen Williams leads the side after establishing a reputation for saving penalties, including four spot kicks during a single shootout at Afcon 2023.
