…Own Goal by Equatorial Guinea Gives Sudan a lift in Group E.

VETERAN RIYAD Mahrez penalty strike pushed Algeria to the top of group E on Sunday against of Burkina Faso in a highly contested game.

Mahrez who plays for the Al-Ahli Club of Veteran players’ penalty goal in the 23rd minute was his 3rd goal in the tournament and he played for 61 minutes against Burkina Faso before the son of former French Captain Zenadine Zineddine utility player, Belaid Zineddine replaced him.

Unfortunately, an own goal by Saul (Yes Saul) Coco of Equaterial Guinea in the 74th minute against war recuperating Sudan sent them out of the tournament.

Algeria qualified for the knockout stages with maximum 6 points now scoring 4 goals and having a clean slate that is the team is yet to lose a match; Stallions of Burkina Faso is second with 3 points scoring 2 goals and conceding 2; Sudan is third with three points also but scored a lone goal and has conceded 3 while Equatorial Guinea has no point scored a lone goal and has conceded 3 goals

The last of group E matches will be Equatorial Guinea versus Algeria while Sudan faces Burkina Faso in a decisive match with both matches to be played simultaneously at 5 pm on New Years’ eve Wednesday 31st December 2025.

Group opens the last group matches tomorrow Monday at 5 pm when simultaneously Zimbabwe battles Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a familiar foe encounter while Angola lines up against the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Hosts Morocco will pray hard to beat desperate Zambia as Group A closes at 8pm also tomorrow Monday same time ousted Comoros will play for prestige against Eagles of Mali in same group.
