…Debutante New Caledonia is the most whipped team of Group Stages, conceded 26 goals
Spain emerged the highest team scorers so far in the 36 matches played at the group stages bit the total record attendances of 24,564 fans (682 fans per match) shows that host country of the 12th world U20 Women’s Football tournament, Poland is not a footballing nation. Crowd drive is low.
A total 149 goals were scored with Spain supplying 16 goals, USA 2nd with 12 goals, Argentina 3rd with 11, Nigeria 4th with 10 goals while three countries Brazil, North Korea and Poland contributed 9 goals each.
Debutante New Caledonia in group F conceded the highest goals of the group stages with a whopping 26 goals followed by Tanzania (15), Benin Republic and New Zealand (14 goals each), Costa Rica 10 and Ghana in the high bracket with 8 goals. New Caledonia first and only world cup goal at U20 level was scored by Jorceline Konral in the 89th minute against Nigeria.
Annika Paz of Argentina is the star girl with 5 individual goals. Five players scored 4 goals each namely Huang Jiaxin and Choe Yon A of China, Pau Comendador and Celia Segura of Spain and Rachel Maltby of England. Nine players scored 3 goals each among them three Nigerians namely Annabelle Chukwu playing for Canada, Winner Onajite David and Ramotalahi Kareem.
There were four own goal scorers, Annika Paz of Argentina against Poland, Martyna Bartczale against Mexico, Nam Seun-eun of Korea against Ghana and Esther Maseke of Tanzania while the bad girls who got red carded were Stephanie Schoeley of Canada and Samantha Pitty of Costa Rica. Costa Rica received the highest yellow cards-7, North Korea, Tanzania and New Zealand 5 each; Mexico 4, Nigeria, France and Portugal 3 each.
Debutante teams were six namely hosts Poland, Benin Republic, Tanzania, Ecuador, New Caledonia and Portugal.
Four teams from Africa and only Nigeria is still standing Ghana has been sent out for the 8th time in their 8 appearances.
